Community Speedwatch operators have been on Pacific Drive to crackdown on speeding vehicles following a request by Conservative councillor Paul Metcalfe.
The Sovereign Ward member asked the team to monitor the speeds in the 30mph zone, particularly at peak periods. A number of cars had their registrations logged for travelling above the permitted speed limit.
“This initiative will be continuing throughout the coming months at different locations around Sovereign ward following concerns from North Harbour residents, who are delighted the Speedwatch team is in the area,” said Paul.
“The fact is speed kills and motorists need to know local people will not put up with excessive speed on their streets.”
