Conservative councillors in Eastbourne move to protect Sovereign Park which they say is being badly neglected

A group upset at the condition of Sovereign Park in Eastbourne wants to ensure that it’s properly maintained.

Sovereign Harbour Conservatives believe that the borough council is neglecting their site of nature conservation. The park, with its shingle beach habitat, is a notable area for the protection of indigenous plant life.

Now the three councillors representing the area believe that the best way forward, and ensure the park receives proper attention, is to get the community involved.

“We could then take pride in the area where we live and ensure that this wonderful community asset is properly maintained”, says Cllr Penny di Cara. “Local residents have suggested forming Friends of Sovereign Park, and it’s an idea we would like to explore."

Those supportive of the idea are asked to contact Cllr di Cara by email:  Councillor.DiCara@eastbourne.gov.uk
