Conservatives on Eastbourne Borough Council find they have another ally in their support to urge the failing LibDem administration to act now to protect and restore the town's precious heritage, including restoration and re-opening of the popular bandstand.
Cllr Robert Smart, the Conservative group leader at EBC, proposed a motion which was roundly rejected by the ruling Liberal Democrats, to commit to properly maintaining the seaside town's heritage sites such as the bandstand, the Winter Garden, Redoubt Fortress and Motcombe Pool. All of which have suffered from mismanagement by the present Lib-Deb authority.
In an article in the latest edition of the Eastbourne Society's magazine, author Terrie Rintoul highlights how the Society supports Cllr Smart's suggestion that EBC needs to develop a planned approach to maintenance of the town's heritage assets.
