Ratton ward residents are being invited to a community workshop this Saturday to decide how £10,000 of funding should be spent on improvements to the local area.
The workshop takes place on Saturday 8th November from 10am to 12pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, Decoy Drive, and is open to all residents across the Ratton ward (encompassing Ratton, Old Willingdon, Rodmill and West Hampden Park)
Each of Eastbourne’s nine wards is receiving an initial pot to spend on quick, visible improvements chosen by local people and to support community engagement.
The funding can be used across a range of priorities including regenerating high streets and town centres, improving parks and green spaces, supporting local businesses, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, enhancing community facilities, addressing skills gaps, and boosting the visitor economy.
Ratton ward councillor David Small said: “This is a real opportunity for residents to shape their own neighbourhood. The funding could be used for anything from community notice boards and planters to new seating, street improvements or supporting local groups. What matters is that local people decide what makes the biggest difference.”
The £20 million allocation is managed by the independent Eastbourne Neighbourhood Board, which includes local business owners, community leaders, residents, The MP and elected councillors.
