One of the real pleasures of our Association events is the chance to hear directly from some of the most compelling voices in public life, without the filter of the TV screen.
Last month, Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg proved exactly why he is such a draw. He joined us for a packed dinner and delivered a speech that was as entertaining as it was thoughtful, blending his trademark wit with an optimistic take on what the country needs, even if the path there isn’t always straight.
It continues a strong tradition of welcoming major figures to Eastbourne, following recent visits from the likes of Penny Mordaunt and Tom Tugendhat.
We followed that in December with our 200 Club Christmas lunch featuring the political historian Dr David Starkey, which offered the perfect mix of festivities alongside his sharp historical insights to round off the year.
These gatherings are the social heart of the Association, a relaxed chance to catch up with friends, meet your ward councillors, and enjoy a good meal. We always aim to make them warm and welcoming, regardless of whether you’ve been a member for thirty years or thirty minutes.
Joining the Association is the best way to ensure you’re on the list for future events, while also supporting our year-round campaigning for Eastbourne.
If you’re not yet a member but would like to be part of it, we would be delighted to welcome you. Link below.
